Avion Gordon is an advocator for brain injury,

Avions brain injury resulted from assaults by gang members while incarcerated at Suffolk county jails jailhouse head trauma are an endemic data has proven that gang membership increase a persons chance of a traumatic  brain injury and head trauma.

In order to frame Avion Gordon Suffolk county detectives and district attorney prosecutors falsely labeled him a gang member.  this false narrative put his life at risk from all the real gangs around him while incarcerated.  Avions brain has structural damage confirmed by MRI's and cognitive deficits confirmed by neuro-psyche assessments.   He suffers from many hormonal imbalances stemming from pituitary gland damage including high cortisol and hypogonadism.

Suffolk County jails failure to acknowledge and treat his injury caused irreparable damage, instead of sending him to a hospital after a black-out due to a gang assault they instead hooked him up to an ECG machine for a few minutes only implementing one day of neurological checks when a minimum of 3 days were needed to adequately monitor an individual.  A hospital visit and monitoring him would have caught the injuries he sustained,  according to medical and jail records the physicians and corrections officer conspired to coverup the severity of the injuries by forcing him to take an off label medication called Depakote to stop the bleeding in his brain according to jail documentation the medication administration records have vanished in an effort to coverup this fact.

Avion Gordon was a nurse at the time of the false incarceration and is currently involved in litigation with the county of Suffolk and is very vocal about preventing something like what happened to him and his family to another person

"I was a nurse I had a career I am a father a brother a son I can never work in the career I worked so hard to get my nursing license again my brain does not function like it did in the past, my family doesn't like me driving alone yet taking care of another person."

Its difficult hearing about Avions case he had no priors or even previous convictions he was a nurse and upstanding member of his community weekly volunteering at the food pantry he even volunteered as a firefighter in his teens and early adulthood before starting work full time as a nurse.
